Our accompanist

Steven Garfirth Dip R.C.M.  A.L.C.M.

Wellingborough Singers’ accompanist is Steven Garfirth who was born in Wellingborough in 1966. On completion of school education Steven gained a place at the Royal College of Music where he studied from 1984 to 1989. Post College Steven spent his time piano teaching until being appointed as Music Teacher at Wellingborough School full time in 1994. He has been teaching music there ever since, to the youngest children from Nursery to Year 4.

Steven first played for Wellingborough Singers under its founder, Stephen Ostler, in the late 1980s and beyond and has been the choir’s accompanist for much of the time since, apart from a 7 year break over the Millennium.

Steven is our vital link with our hosts, Wellingborough School, and an indefatigable mover of chairs, seller of tickets, and pourer of drinks.
